Inspired by John Craxton’s linocuts, this workshop for adults will offer you the chance to carve one of the artist’s designs on linoleum tiles, and then make ink prints from that in a wide array of colours. A graphic printing art, linocut refers to cutting reliefs into the surface of linoleum tiles, and then making prints with them using paint/ink. A plastic-like material, many prefer linoleum over wood for printing techniques because of how easy it is to carve and shape. In this two-hour linocut workshop, you will get the chance to design and make your own linocut cards, inspired by John Craxton’s artwork. First, your instructor will have you cut a 9 x 13 cm copy of one of Craxton’s pieces into a linoleum tile of the same size. The next step will be to print your relief on paper using rollers and your favourite ink colours. In this technique, only the raised parts shall appear on your paper; the carved parts will remain white. The workshop will be conducted in Turkish.Worskhop Instructor: Özge Enginöz About Özge EnginözÖzge Enginöz (b. 1981, Balıkesir, Turkey) holds a degree in Combined Arts from Yıldız Technical University’s Faculty of Art & Design.
